TALKING ABOUT IMAGINARY SITUATIONS


OBJECTIVE:

Students will learn expressions to use when describing imaginary situations in the past, talking about consequences in the present, giving opinions or suggestions about actions in the past, talking about recent predicaments.

Unreal conditional sentences describe imaginary situations with simple past forms and consequences in the present.

4.8. PAST MODALS
Use would have or should have + past participle to give opinions or suggestions about actions in the past.

What should I have done?                 You should have told them about it.
                                      You shouldn’t have hidden it.

What would you have done?             I would have cold her.
                                                         I wouldn’t have sent her an email.
